The 6th Chile Week was held in Beijing and Shanghai successively from November 25 to December 3, 2021. Through online and offline activities, the event enabled comprehensive and multifaceted exchanges in trade, investment, economic development, tourism, culture, food, etc. This was an annual flagship event organized by Embassy of Chile to China to strengthen trade and investment ties. And this year, the Chile Week centered on food safety, sustainability and innovation and sought to explore new opportunities in such fields as green hydrogen, new energy and electric vehicles. The event aimed to further strengthen cooperation in trade and investment between the two countries, promote the sustainable and healthy development of China-Chile friendship, and realize in-depth cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The opening ceremony on November 25th in Beijing saw leaders from both sides attend and speak in person at Embassy of Chile to China (the main venue), as well as via video calls from Santiago in Chile (the branch venue). Mr. HA, Frank Chun Shing, Director & President of Tianqi Lithium, which is one of the sponsors of the event, delivered an opening speech at “Taste Chile” dinner party upon invitation.

On behalf of the company, President HA expressed warm congratulations on the holding of Chile Week, and sent his sincere greetings to Ambassador Schmidt and friends from across sectors attending the ceremony.

According to Mr. HA, as a leading multinational enterprise of the Road and Belt Initiative in Chengdu, Tianqi Lithium has played an active role in the economic and trade exchanges between China and Chile. It invested nearly 4.1 billion US dollars in Chilean miner SQM in 2018, contributing to the exploitation of new energy materials in both countries and the world at large. In July this year, following the General Consulate of Chile in Shanghai and Guangzhou, the third General Consulate was established in Chengdu. Chile is among the first Latin American countries to establish a consulate in western China. This opened a new era for the ironclad friendship between the two countries. The Chile Tour in November and the Chile Week strengthened our confidence to cooperate with Chilean enterprises. It also showed other Chinese multinational companies the sound business environment to invest in Chile.
