China, as the world's largest producer and consumer of lithium, should stimulate sci-tech innovations, improve the production process, develop and utilize domestic lithium resources, and rationally make a global lithium strategy to upgrade the new energy industry and reach the dual carbon goals.
Tianqi Lithium acquired a 51% stake in Australia's Talison Lithium, which enjoys a rich reserve of quality lithium pyroxene mine, in 2014, and a 23.77% stake in Chile's SQM, which operates the world's largest lithium salt lake, in 2018. The two acquisitions have made lithium salt production more efficient, stable, and flexible and have alleviated the bottleneck of lithium resources. We are also committed to cutting costs and increasing efficiency. The three domestic production bases in Shehong, Sichuan province, Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province, and Tongliang, Chongqing municipality, operate in a safe and efficient manner, and enjoy full-throttle sales. The lithium hydroxide project in Kwinana, Western Australia, and the lithium carbonate project in Anju, Suining city, Sichuan province, are still under trial production or construction. In the long term, we seek to ensure upstream supply, manufacture quality products in the midstream, and penetrate downstream sales, so that we will can easily adapt to the rapid development of the international market and the global lithium industry. According to Wood Mackenzie's 2021 report, Tianqi Lithium is the only lithium producer in China to be 100% self-sufficient and accomplish complete vertical integration in the industry with a large, consistent and stable supply of lithium concentrate.

To bring lithium research projects into practice, Tianqi Lithium has started the 2022 Entrepreneurship Competition. It is an invitation to industry talent, such as Ph.D. and post-doctoral candidates from universities and research institutes at home and abroad. This provides an opportunity for scientific projects on topics such as new lithium materials and new energy to stand out.
The competition is divided into four stages: application, preliminary selection, technical evaluation, and final defense. Candidates can choose from the following tracks: comprehensive utilization of salt lake and lithium resources, separation and extraction technology of lithium resources and new lithium preparation technology, lithium materials research, green recycling of retired power batteries, and new energy storage technology, to name a few. The registration channel opened on September 26. 10 outstanding teams will be selected through online technical evaluation and on-site final defense, and they will be granted an opportunity for incubation. We will also provide them with unique awards, such as "high-end talent matching, patent matching, commercialization of innovations, and visits to industrial zones.
