April 22 2025 marks the 56th Earth Day, themed “Our Power, Our Planet” calling for global unity in support of renewable energy. In response, Tianqi Lithium launched its third annual Earth Week campaign — “Our Power, Our Planet: Empowering a Greener Future with Lithium” — bringing together stakeholders from across its global production sites, alongside government agencies, NGOs, local communities, and students. The initiative aimed to inspire collective action to protect the planet and support the transformation to a green and low-carbon energy future, and achieving harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature.
Addressing climate change has become a global consensus, with the "Dual Carbon Goal" now a shared objective worldwide. The world is undergoing a profound transformation, moving away from reliance on fossil fuels and accelerating the transition to renewable energy. Tianqi Lithium is contributing to this shift by adopting green manufacturing practices, leveraging renewable energy, and advancing low-carbon technologies across its operations. As a committed advocate for sustainable development, the company promotes green transformation across the lithium supply chain, driving synergy between economic growth, social development, and environmental stewardship.
Dual-City Initiative Promotes Green Living: 300+ Cyclists Join Forces for a Low-Carbon Future
On April 19, Tianqi Lithium hosted its third Earth Day cycling event simultaneously at its Chengdu headquarters and Zhangjiagang base in Jiangsu, drawing over 300 participants from various sectors who advocate for green living and low-carbon mobility. In Chengdu, cyclists took on a 28-kilometer challenge along the city’s greenway loop, while in Zhangjiagang, riders completed a 17-kilometer circuit around Shuangshan Island.
According to estimates, the event helped reduce carbon emissions by approximately 920 kilograms, equivalent to the annual carbon sequestration of 92 trees*. Every kilometer ridden was not only a step toward healthier living but also a a clear embodiment of supporting low-carbon transportation.

"I’ve participated in all three of Tianqi Lithium’s cycling events," said one seasoned cyclist who reached the finish line first. "Cycling not only keeps me fit but also helps reduce pollution and carbon emissions, making a positive contribution to achieving carbon neutrality."
Environmental Protection Knows No Borders: "Pick up” for Nature
From the rural paths of Chongqing to the snow-covered Tibetan Plateau, and from forest parks to the southern coastlines, Tianqi Lithium's environmental efforts are taking place around the globe. Employees of different nationalities and roles are united by a shared respect for nature—bending down to pick up and sort waste, demonstrating their commitment to the Earth in the simplest way.
At the Tongliang site in Chongqing, employees teamed up with villagers in Shuixing Village to clean up plastic waste from the fields and set up a waste-sorting station, as children's voices echoed through the song, Clap Your Hands for the Earth. At the Yanting site in Mianyang, 23 employees hiked five kilometers through a national forest park, collecting litter along the mountain roads. On the Tagong Grassland at an altitude of 3,900 meters, staffs from the Ganzi Shenghe site cleaned up discarded packaging and plastic, while "Green Wish Cards" expressed their commitment to ecological protection. At the Kwinana plant in Australia, local and international employees joined forces for a “ Corporate Beach Cleaning Initiative ” that earned praise from the city’s mayor.
From Chinese Countryside to Australian Shores, Tianqi Lithium’s global environmental efforts demonstrate that protecting the planet doesn’t require grand declarations—it calls for steady commitment and meaningful actions that start close to home. As more people take part in clean-up initiatives and environmental awareness becomes part of everyday life, the vision of "lucid waters and lush mountains" draws ever closer to reality.
Step by Step, Tree by Tree: Tianqi Lithium’s Ongoing Green Commitment”
Greening the earth is building our future. During Tianqi Lithium’s 3rd annual Earth Week, tree-planting activities were carried out simultaneously at the Shehong and Anju sites, turning the ecological philosophy of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" into a shared commitment and real action. Each newly planted tree stands as a living testament to sustainable development.
At the Shehong site, over 40 volunteers planted yellow trumpet trees and Papagan tangerine saplings within the plant, tagging each tree with adoption signs as a pledge to nurture them long-term—transforming vacant space into a green landmark. Meanwhile, more than 70 employees at the Anju site planted osmanthus trees in reserved spaces within the production area. With shovels in hand, volunteers dug, planted, and watered, bringing new life and vitality to the workplace.
According to China’s National Forestry and Grassland Administration, a single tree can absorb and store 4 to 18 kilograms of carbon dioxide annually. In recent years, Tianqi Lithium’s energy-saving and technical upgrades have led to carbon reductions equivalent to planting millions of “invisible trees”—leveraging green innovation to protect our shared home.
As biologist Jane Goodall once said, that the real power of Earth Day is that it makes every ordinary person realize that their actions - whether its sorting waste or choosing low-carbon transport - are contributing to shaping the planet’s future.”For the new energy sector, the mission is not only to accelerate the global transition to green, low-carbon energy, but also to lead by example in practicing sustainable development.
As an important part of the new energy value chain, Tianqi Lithium is committed to driving green energy progress through technological innovation. Guided by the principle of harmonious coexistence between human and nature, the company consistently strengthens its environmental management capabilities and drives low-carbon transformation across the lithium value chain. At Tianqi, sustainability is embedded into every step of our operations and daily life—making each energy-efficiency upgrade, every tree planted, and every low-carbon commute. These everyday actions form a steady, collective force to protect our shared blue planet.
