Sino-Chile Exchange Program: Pioneering a New Chapter in Lithium Industry Immersion

On the morning of October 6th, in Santiago, Chile, the 'New Energy Talents' program, an international exchange initiative co-developed by Tianqi Lithium Corporation and Fundación Encuentros del Futuro, was inaugurated at the former National Congress building. Distinguished guests Mr. Guido Girardi, Vice President of Fundación Encuentros del Futuro; Mr. Ma Keqiang, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Chile; Senator Mr. Manuel José Ossandón; Mr. Pablo Galvez, Coordinator of the Expert Review Committee; and Ms. Jiang Anqi, Vice Chairman of Tianqi Lithium Corporation attended and delivered speeches. The esteemed presence of Mr. HA Frank Chun Shing, Director and President of TLC, and Ms. Xiong Wanyu, Senior Vice President of TLC, alongside other notable leaders, added significance to this momentous occasion.


In recent years, the imperative of addressing climate change and advancing green, low-carbon practices has gained prominence within the industry. In alignment with the pivotal national strategies of both nations, Tianqi Lithium Corporation, in collaboration with Fundación Encuentros del Futuro (hereinafter referred to as 'Congreso Futuro'), the International Scientific Exchange Foundation of China (hereinafter referred to as 'ISEFC'), and Sichuan University, has orchestrated this significant event. Its overarching purpose is to catalyze cultural exchange, scientific research collaboration, economic and trade initiatives, and the nurturing of talent between the two nations.

During the launch ceremony, Mr. Guido Girardi emphasized that Congreso Futuro has been steadfastly attentive to matters in the realms of energy transformation and climate change. He expressed his hope that all student participants in the program would deeply cherish this invaluable learning opportunity, fortify their interactions with distinguished Chinese enterprises, and make substantial contributions to the advancement of Chile's lithium battery industry.

Ms. Jiang articulated the corporation's unwavering focus on the lithium-ion battery sector. She stressed their active pursuit of fresh collaborative prospects and innovative partnership models, all aimed at enriching the high-quality development of both nations. She firmly believes that this event can serve as a conduit for knowledge and scientific exchange, fostering enhanced bilateral friendship and nurturing talent for sustainable industry development.

Senator Manuel José Ossandón extended his congratulations to the selected student representatives and expressed his profound appreciation for this program. He emphasized the mutual trust between Chile and China, in this regard, foreseeing a future rich with expanded avenues for exchanges and collaboration, particularly in nurturing technological talent. These collaborations, he noted, would encompass the domains of the new energy industry, global climate change response, resource development, and environmental protection.

Mr. Ma conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to the pillars of support behind this endeavor, namely, Tianqi Public Welfare, Congreso Futuro, ISEFC, and Sichuan University. He expressed his wish that, throughout this cross-continental exchange and learning journey, students would not only foster knowledge but also cement enduring friendships. Moreover, he envisioned these students as beacons of wisdom, poised to illuminate the path of China-Chile cooperation in diverse fields, spanning the new energy industry, global climate change mitigation, resource development, and environmental preservation. Mr. Pablo Galvez, in his reflections, highlighted the event's unique role in fostering shared ideologies and coexistence, emphasizing the students' development in addressing multifaceted challenges through immersive experiences in engineering, scientific exploration, and sustainable development.

The program's curriculum encompasses diverse subjects, including 'Green Development,' 'Traditional Culture,' 'Ecological Environment Protection, and Sustainable Development.' It will host 20 distinguished Chilean postgraduate and doctoral student delegates for an educational sojourn in China. Over one month, these student representatives will embark on immersive visits to enterprises within the new energy value chain, engage with luminaries in the field of new energy, and infuse their youthful vitality into cultural exchanges, talent development, and bilateral cooperation.
