On December 10, the "ISSB Sustainable Disclosure Standards Learning Partner: Visiting Leading Enterprises" series event was successfully held at Tianqi Lithium. Zhang Zhengwei, Senior Advisor and Director of the Beijing Office of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), and his delegation visited Tianqi Lithium to discuss practical experiences and challenges related to corporate ESG information disclosure and management. Mr. Zou Jun, Director, Executive Vice President, and Chief Financial Officer of Tianqi Lithium, along with Senior Vice President Ms. Xiong Wanyu and their team, warmly welcomed the delegation. Independent Non-Executive Director Ms. Wu Changhua also attended the meeting.

At the Li Science Museum, Mr. Zhang and his delegation from the ISSB listened attentively to an introduction on the history of lithium and its contemporary widespread applications. They engaged in in-depth discussions on the development prospects of the lithium battery industry, the formulation of industry standards, and the practices of ESG and sustainable development.

During the discussion session, Mr. Zou Jun, on behalf of Tianqi Lithium, warmly welcomed the guests from the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and introduced the company’s development history. Following that, Ms. Xiong Wanyu elaborated on the company’s ESG framework, detailing how Tianqi Lithium integrates ESG principles and sustainable development into every aspect of its production and operations. Independent Non-Executive Director Ms. Wu Changhua further highlighted the company’s achievements in carbon reduction, responsible investment, and other key areas.

Ms. Christina Wang, Director of ESG and Sustainable Development, provided a detailed introduction to the company’s ESG management system. She emphasized the commitment to the net-zero emissions goal and the ESG risk management framework, while also sharing key achievements in the company’s sustainable impact practices.

Mr. Zhang highly commended Tianqi Lithium’s practices in ESG and sustainable development, particularly praising the company’s ESG risk management system. He emphasized that businesses must have a clear understanding of ESG risks, especially climate risks. He also noted that the introduction of the ISSB standards presents new opportunities and challenges for Chinese enterprises. Only by actively addressing these challenges can companies secure a competitive edge and thrive in the global market.

The International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) is an independent standard-setting body established by the IFRS Foundation. Its aim is to create globally comparable sustainability disclosure standards. The two most recent standards issued by the ISSB fully incorporate the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). The ISSB standards focus on the connection between sustainability and financial information. With investors at the core, the standards require companies to disclose material sustainability-related risks and opportunities that could impact investment decisions.

The "ISSB Sustainable Disclosure Standards Learning Partner: Visiting Leading Enterprises" series aims to build a platform for face-to-face communication between experts in the field of sustainable development and various enterprises. It facilitates in-depth dialogue and mutual learning, fostering practical application and innovation in corporate sustainability disclosure practices.
