In his speech, Cui Zhiwei underscored the longstanding neighborly bond between China and Chile.He emphasized how the pragmatic cooperation between the two nations has paved the way for exchanges and collaborations in diverse areas such as international friendship cities, economic and trade investment, agriculture, culture, and education. The Provincial Government Counselor's Office, as an intellectual institution dedicated to supporting scientific decision-making, will persist in leveraging its unique advantages and functions, including talents acquisition, extensive intelligence and broad networks. Collaborating with all parties, it aims to build a platform for exchanges and cooperation, thereby contributing valuable insights to deepen the partnership between Sichuan and Chile.

Jiang Hui emphasized that China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals & Chemicals Importers & Exporters, as one of the pioneering industry organizations in China promoting responsible business practices, places significant importance on the high-quality development of Chinese enterprises' mining investment in Chile. He also expressed hope that the forum would serve as a platform for exchanges and dialogues between China (Sichuan) and Chile, fostering increased scientific and technological innovation and industrial development between the two nations. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of promoting sustainable development, people-to-people exchanges and bilateral relations.
During the forum, Tianqi Lithium Corporation launched the "White Paper on Sustainable Lithium Industry in Achieving Net-Zero" (referred to as the "White Paper") in both English and Spanish. Tianqi Lithium Corporation made a commitment in the White Paper: We will continue to reduce emissions in our primary business operations. By 2030, we aim to achieve a reduction of over 42% in emissions compared to the base year of 2021 for Scope 1 and Scope 2. Additionally, we plan to achieve a 50% reduction in emission levels for Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 by 2030, and ultimately achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Jiang Anqi, vice chairman of Tianqi Lithium Corporation, said that as a leading player in the lithium industry, Tianqi Lithium Corporation took the initiative to develop a carbon emission database in 2018 and implemented systematic carbon management in 2020. Currently, the company has established a coordination mechanism for both domestic and international operations, and has successfully completed the carbon inventory at the organizational level. Additionally, we have conducted Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) evaluations to determine the carbon footprint of our products. In order to drive green and sustainable development in the lithium industry, we propose the launch of “Uniting for Net Zero with Lithium” initiative.

White Paper on Sustainable Lithium Industry in Achieving Net-Zero
During the latter part of the forum, notable speakers including Rodrigo Ituria, Vice President of Antofagasta University in Chile, Tong Ling, Ren Guangiun, and Wei Xuefeng, counselors of the provincial government, delivered insightful keynote speeches on the exchange and mutual learning between China and Chile in the fields of clean energy, agriculture, and culture. Furthermore, some delegates engaged in dialogues and discussions on international cooperation concerning these pertinent topics.
