Australian Ambassador to China Visits Tianqi Lithium Corporation (Jiangsu)

On September 22nd, Australian Ambassador to China, Fu Guanhan, led a delegation to visit Tianqi Lithium Corporation (Jiangsu). Li Guo, Vice President of Tianqi Lithium Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “Tianqi Lithium”), and Zhang Bingyuan, General Manager of Tianqi Lithium Corporation (Jiangsu) (hereinafter referred to as “Tianqi Lithium Zhangjiagang Base”), warmly welcomed them along with the company team.  The two parties had in-depth discussions on the cooperation between China and Australia in the lithium ore and new energy sectors.

     Mr. Li Guo introduced Mr. Fu Guanhan and his delegation to the situation of Tianqi Lithium Zhangjiagang Base and its advantages in terms of process technology and quality control.  Ambassador Fu Guanhan expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and introduced the recently implemented “Critical Mineral Resources” investment policy by the Australian government.

     Later, Ambassador Fu Guanhan and his delegation visited Tianqi Lithium Zhangjiagang Base, focusing on the intelligent project of wastewater recycling pipelines and the operation of photovoltaic panels. They expressed their appreciation for the Base’s efforts in energy conservation and emission reduction and welcomed Tianqi Lithium to further increase its investment in Australia.

     During the visit, Ambassador Fu Guanhan learned that Tianqi Lithium had signed an agreement with Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone in February this year for the establishment of a lithium hydroxide production base. This project aims to strengthen further cooperation in the new energy industry and promote a green transformation of economic and social development. He expressed the hope that Tianqi Lithium’s lithium hydroxide production bases at home and abroad would serve as exemplary enterprises in their respective regions. He encouraged them to leverage their strengths and drive the healthy and stable development of the global lithium-ion battery market through technological innovation.

Tianqi Lithium’s Kwinana lithium hydroxide production base, as the world's largest and Australia's first lithium hydroxide plant, heralds a new era in the country's lithium industry. Through years of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices, the Kwinana production base has achieved remarkable results in carbon reduction, resource utilization, and solid waste reuse. Tianqi Lithium expressed its gratitude to the Australian Embassy and Consulate General of Australia in Chengdu for their strong support in past work and business activities. Furthermore, the company extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Fu Guanhan to visit the Chengdu headquarters and the Kwinana production base in Western Australia.
