On July 18, a delegation of leaders of the Union of Latin American Parties (UPLA) visited Tianqi Lithium. Ms. Xiong Wanyu, Senior Vice President of Tianqi Lithium, warmly received the UPLA Vice-Presidents Andrea Ojeda, Guido Chiriboga and Aníbal Zapattini, as well as representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay and the Dominican Republic.

The group first toured Tianqi’ s Li Science Museum. Guided by staff, they explored the origins of lithium, its global distribution and its current industrial applications. Delegates expressed particular interest in lithium’ s critical role in the global energy transition, engaging in vibrant discussions with the staff.

During the visit, the delegation not only gained a deeper understanding of China’ s lithium battery and new energy industries, but also enhanced their comprehension of China through direct interaction with Chinese enterprises and people, building lasting friendships.

UPLA representatives all praised Tianqi Lithium’ s principle that“economic benefits never override the environment or people’ s safety and well-being”, and expressed the hope that this visit would serve as a bridge for deeper cooperation between Tianqi Lithium and Latin American nations. They looked forward to exploring mutually beneficial opportunities in lithium battery development, green energy transition and hightech innovation, contributing to a new chapter of shared development across the Global South.
