On July 22, H.E. Pablo Arriarán, Ambassador of Chile to China, visited Tianqi Lithium. He was accompanied by Mr. José Miguel Vial, Consul General of Chile in Chengdu, and other delegates. Ms. Xiong Wanyu, Senior Vice President of Tianqi Lithium, and Mr. Li Guo, Vice President of Strategy, warmly received the delegation alongside their team. The guests were given a tour of the world’s first Li Science Museum. Both sides held friendly discussions on industrial collaboration, cultural exchange, and sustainable development.

Ms. Xiong Wanyu extended a sincere welcome to Ambassador Arriarán and his delegation, providing an overview of the company’s operations and its business in Chile. This year marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Chile, as well as the 20th anniversary of the China-Chile Free Trade Agreement. Over the past 55 years, she noted, economic and trade ties between the two nations have consistently led the way in Latin America, characterized by mutually beneficial cooperation. Ms. Xiong expressed hope that businesses from both countries could jointly seize opportunities arising from the global energy transition and also expressed confidence that Chile would continue to provide international investors with a fair and open business environment.

During their visit to the Li Science Museum, Ambassador Arriarán and his delegation spoke highly of Tianqi Lithium’s achievements in advancing lithium industry development and promoting public awareness of lithium science. They learned that H.E. Gabriel Boric, President of Chile, was among the museum’s first distinguished visitors, and that numerous Chilean business leaders, scholars, and students had also toured the facility. This underscores the museum’s significant role in driving China-Chile collaboration in green energy transition and cultural exchange.

Ambassador Arriarán thanked Tianqi Lithium for their warm reception. Against the backdrop of strong bilateral relations, he emphasized the embassy’s commitment to acting as a bridge to expand trade and investment. He welcomed Sichuan-based enterprises to invest in Chile’s energy, mineral and other sectors, to bring greater benefits to the people of both regions. The Ambassador also expressed his expectation for Tianqi Lithium to play an even larger role in advancing global green and low-carbon energy transition, injecting new momentum into China-Chile economic cooperation.

Marking the 55th anniversary of China-Chile diplomatic ties, Tianqi Lithium, as a key representative of bilateral economic collaboration, stands ready to join hands with Chile. By leveraging complementary strengths and adhering to principles of mutual respect and win-win cooperation, Tianqi aims to explore new opportunities, deepen industrial synergy, and contribute to green transition and sustainable development for both nations.
